Funds collected help support PATA's spay/neuter clinics

Calendars, 2008 (for 2009)

Awesome, limited-edition PATA Manzanillo pet pinup calendars for 2009 went on sale for just $200 pesos at three locations in Manzanillo. They're the perfect stocking stuffers or gifts for the pet lover....

Calendars were available at convenient locations in Manzanillo, and in Barra de Navidad as well.

Purchasing a calendar means you're supporting a worthy local community cause, whose goals are to reduce the overpopulation of street animals in Manzanillo while teaching about responsible pet care via educational initiatives with local children.

The results are in from our second annual Dog Jog 5 km walk-a-thon, held Sunday, November 23, 2008. • The race winner, for a second time in a row, with a time of 18 minutes was Patty Brase!
  • Second prize went to Raul Guerrero, who finished close behind.
  • Fastest hound was the beagle Bogartt, with owner Luis Aceves.
  • Second prize went to Frida, with her owner Silvia Gomez.
  • Top fundraiser was Chantel Oleksin, with a whopping $4,645 pesos raised (a quarter of our event total!)

Special thanks to half a dozen Campo Verde students who came out to support the event, and Alejandra, who ran the registration desk. We're so proud to have our community service program with these amazing young people, who are taking the message of animal welfare to the next generation of Manzanillenses!

Calgary Fundraiser

Our Calgary PATA chapter, lead by Chris Newbold, had two summer garage sale fundraisers, raising a total of $1,800!!!

Chris reports positive news from the first sale, "We had our garage sale, the weather was the hottest day of the summer so far (30 degrees) and it was also the May long weekend. We have so many items to sell that we are going to have two garage sales with the next one hopefully next weekend. On the first day of the sale we made $625.00 dollars."

"The employees of Canada Post have been incredible. They have donated truck loads of items. In fact many of the items have not even made it to the sale; they have been sold in the parking lot of the Canada Post Plant with all the proceeds going to PATA."

Charity Fashion Show, 2006

Our second Charity Fashion Event featuring the designs of Vanessa Zamora of Colima and Manzanillo's Ruben Oswaldo rocked the house at SUNSET LOUNGE on Fri. Feb. 10, 2006 at 9 pm.

Manzanillo's hottest volunteer models strutted their stuff on the catwalk showcasing bikinis and evening wear. And amazing door prizes from local community donations (restaurant meals, hotel passes, etc) were raffled off, all to the cause of supporting PATA's quest to hold free sterilization clinics for low income pet owners and street animals.

**We raised almost $2,000 US thanks to the generosity of Sunset Lounge sponsors, the local volunteer models and more than 200 attendees!**

Additional raffle prizes included Jazz pianist Jonathan Orozco, who donated 2 hours of private jazz music and Juanito's Restaurant, with a complimentary dinner for two.

More than 100 people showed up to support the cause, and the highlight was the Dog Show featuring the REAL stars of the evening, the four legged, furry models!

Anti-Tick Baths, 2005

Anti-Tick Baths

We have started hosting regular events, monthly Anti-tick Dog Washes, to help raise community awareness and some funds for this fledgling group.

It is our hope that with these frequent community events, we will raise the consciousness of the local population and help affect positive change in the culture of owning pets with the people of Manzanillo. Once we gain trust and faith in the community, we can move onto other issues such as the importance in spaying and neutering to control unwanted animal populations.

So far the success has been great and we are very excited by the strong turnout and community interest.

Our first event on Sunday, July 17, 2005 was held beside the volunteer firefighters station in Valle Las Garzas. We washed 19 dogs and treated them with anti-tick medicine, and dispensed advice.

We've since had several other washes in low-income neighborhoods around the city: at the Red Cross station near the new bus terminal, the Santiago Garden near the taxi stand among them. We also dispense print information on how people can keep fleas and ticks and other parasites out of the home.

Anyone who is interested in donating or pledging our cause is asked to contact PATA at info@patamanzanillo.com or the phone number below.
