Each year, around Thanksgiving time, animal lovers crawl out of their beds early in the morning, strap on their running (or walking) shoes, snap a leash onto their favorite four-legged companion and head out to the Santiago Peninsula.

The whole idea behind PATA's annual Dog Jog is to join with like-minded folks who want to help the animals of Manzanillo, and who enjoy a brisk jog as well (walk or run, with or without said pet).

If contributing to animal wellfare isn't enough for you, PATA's Dog Jog is a race as well as a fund-raiser. There are prizes for the fastest person and the fastest dog. Proceeds from the event help fund PATA's spay/neuter programs.

The Dog Jog provides two avenues for raising money, via the entry fee and via pledges. The entry fee is self-explanatory, but the pledge concept is a bit more complicated.

A pledge is a donation garnered from someone other than the participant: Sally donates $10 and Susie runs the race. The more pledges gathered, the more money donated to PATA.

A pledge form is received at registration ( below). It provides spaces to fill in the names of the people who donate and the amount of money donated. The participant is responsible for finding generous donors, filling out the pledge form, collecting the donations and turning in the loot on race day.

The participant earning the highest dollar amount in pledges wins a prize!

The secret to raising money through pledges is for each participant to register early, get out there with their form, and collect lots of pledges from their friends and family. Pledge forms and donations are then turned in on race day, and tallied during the race. A cool prize is given to the participant who gathers the most $pledges$, such as a night's stay at one of Costalegra's luxury resorts.
