Annual Poker Tournament and Silent Auction
Funds collected will help support PATA's free spay/neuter clinics
The Annual Poker Tournament and Silent Auction is held every winter at the Oasis Ocean Club in Club Santiago.
The game is Texas Hold 'Em and the Silent Auction features a wide variety of items from knick-knacks to luxurious rooms in Manzanillo and Costa Alegra resorts. All items are donated by generous PATA supporters.

The winner of the poker tournament will win a stay at one of the area's finest resorts. Second and third-place winners will receive great prizes, as well. Competition will be stiff. The poker tourney is expanding and more tables are being added as the annual event gains popularity. A spot at the table should be reserved well ahead of time (early January) so we know how much space will be needed. Start looking for the announcements in December.
The more players, the more volunteers we'll need to deal the cards. Training will be provided for volunteers who want to deal. Please contact the tournament director well ahead of the tournament if you'd like to help.
Poker Rules
PATA Manzanillo poker tournament will follow No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em rules. Here is the site with the official rules and regulations that will be followed during the tournament. Any additional questions should be directed to our tournament director.
Each player will receive 1000 chips for their 450 pesos buy-in. You are eliminated from the tourney when you lose all your chips. The tourney will not stop (except for short breaks) until one player holds all the chips. That player will be declared the winner. The last player eliminated will be the 2nd place finisher, the second last player eliminated will be the 3rd place finisher, etc.
Late Players
If you have reserved a seat but do not arrive in time, you will be assigned a seat and chips. Your blinds will be posted in your absence.
Poker Registration and Payment
Sign up as a tournament participant or dealer before the tournament (announcements will be made locally and on this website), either by contacting the Tourney Director or by calling (314) 109-5836. Once you have registered, you may pay the $450 peso registration fee during the month prior to the tournament.

Along with the gaming tables, we display cool items for the Silent Auction. Generous individuals and companies donate items for the auction. The evening of the tournament, the actual items (or certificates) are brought to the Oasis Ocean Club for bidders to view and bid on.
Donations of items for the auction are welcome. Donations can be made anytime by filling in the email form with the pertinent information about the item (or tour, or whatever) that you'd like to donate. The donation form will be sent to PATA when you click on the SUBMIT button.
Auction items include:
- Vacation stays at luxury condos in and around Manzanillo;
- Restaurant meals at local hotspots (El Fogon, Senor Sushi, Sunset Lounge, Oasis Ocean Club, Monkey's Fried Chicken, Healthy Express);
- Spa and massage packages;
- Class instruction (Spanish language, art, private yoga);
- Local tours (snorkeling, ATV, Colima volcanoes, Jeep adventure); and other
- Luxury items (original art, designer sunglasses).
A "silent" bid is made by simply writing your name on the list displayed next to each item, along with the amount you'd like to pay for it. During the auction process, bidders are able to check on the status of their bids by perusing the bidding lists for each auction item.
The silent bidding process will continue through the duration of the poker tournament. That evening, after the last card is laid on the table, the silent auction will close and bids will be tallied.
Winners will then be notified personally, via email or telephone, and arrangements will be made for payment and delivery.
Charity Auction Complete Rules
- Silent auction date: On the advertised poker and auction day, all auction items will be displayed at the Oasis Ocean Club, starting at 7:00 PM and closing at 11:00 PM.
- Winning bid: The highest bid written on the silent auction list will win.
- Absentee bidding: A participant must not be present at the completion of the silent auction to win. The highest bidder wins and will be contacted, accordingly.
- Required information: Entrants must include full name and contact information (email/telephone number/address) for bids to qualify.
- Minimum bid: Bids must equal or exceed the minimum bid identified in the item description to qualify as a valid bid.
- Bid increment: Amount by which each subsequent bid must increase in valu
- Notification: Winners will be notified of their winning bids by phone or email after the conclusion of the silent auction. Actual items, or certificates for intangibles, will be delivered to the winners in exchange for full payment.
