AUCTION RULES

- On-line auction dates: on-line bidding will open on 20 December, 2010 and continue until midnight, 1 February, 2011.
- Silent auction date: On 2 February, all auction items will be transferred to the silent auction block. The silent auction will be held at the Oasis Ocean Club, starting at 7:00 PM and closing at 11:00 PM. Bids received on-line will transfer and qualify as silent auction bids.
- Winning bid: The highest bid received on-line or at the silent auction will win.
- Absentee bidding: A participant must not be present at the silent auction to win. By using the "maximum bid" option on the on-line bidding form, a participant can indicate a maximum amount they are willing to pay for an item. If that amount is not exceeded in the silent auction, then the absentee bid will win (more details under minimum and maximum bids, below).
- Required information: Entrants must include full name and contact information (email, telephone number, address) for bids to qualify.
- Minimum bid: Bids must equal or exceed the minimum bid identified for each item to qualify as a valid bid.
- Bid increment: Amount by which each subsequent bid must increase in value.
- Maximum bid: In the event of multiple bids for the same item, the entrant with the highest maximum bid will win. The amount of the winning bid will be established by adding the established bid increment to the highest bid.
Example: Dan bids $100 pesos with a maximum bid of $300 pesos for a fishing trip (). Kim bids $150 pesos with a maximum bid of $200 pesos. The trip would go to Dan for a bid of $250 pesos. - Bid pledge: By placing a bid with the online bidding form, or by signing your name to the silent auction form, you are committing to pay PATA the amount specified.
- Notification: Winners will be notified of their winning bids by phone or email after the conclusion of the silent auction. Actual items, or certificates for intangibles, will be delivered to the winners in exchange for full payment. In the event of out-of-town winners, arrangements will be made for payment and delivery of the auction item or certificate via email or phone.

Guatemalan Huipil Blouse
Guatemalan Huipil, blouse or tapestry: A huipil is an Aztec or Nauhuatl word referring to a Mesoamerican woman's upper body garment. The Guatemalan Huipil is a native or indigenous woman's garment and is basically still in it's native form.
Most huipiles are woven on a back-strap, pre-Hispanic type of loom, by a single woman for her own use or perhaps for a family member; some are woven on a larger treadle loom. Each huipil has a special pattern associated with a particular village. Thus when a woman went to market, people could always identify where she was from.
This beautiful blue and gold huipil was purchased in Guatemala. The origins of this particular blouse have not been traced and it is unknown whether the fabric is hand-woven, but the gorgeous, intricate details are obviously hand embroidered.

Woven Dragon/Flower Tapestry
Collectable Antique or Simple Wall Art: Only an appraiser would know for sure.
This intriguing tapestry has a clouded history and its origins are completely unknown. It was inherited over forty years ago, handed down from a globe-trotting centenarian. It may have been purchased in China, or it could have as easily been bought in a local thrift shop, no one can say....
What is known is that the quality of the weaving and the beauty of the gold and bronze-on-black dragon and flower design is exquisite. The piece, which is believed to be silk, has been fully lined and so falls with a rich, luxurious drape. It is in excellent condition, having been lovingly stored like the rare antique it truly might be.

Snorkeling Excursion from the Scuba Shack
Half day snorkeling excursion for 4: Join Manzanillo's dive shop run by Susan Dearing for a half-day, 3-hour snorkeling excursion for 4 people.
Visit the 10,000-year old Aquarium Reef in 3 to 10 feet of water, with a plethora of colorful fishes and living coral, followed by the shipwreck San Luciano, the casualty of a 1959 hurricane, which rests in just 25 feet of water offshore. There are compartments galore in this old wreck to satisfy your exploratory appetites. Roca Elefante (translate that to Elephant Rock) is the third and final stop on this three-hour snorkeling smorgasbord with a booming, surging blow hole, tunnels and arches, and lots of fine fishes, all in 10 to 25 feet of water.
All skill levels are welcome. This trip features equipment especially for beginners and children, including snorkel vests, exposure suits for warmth and protection, and snorkeling rafts with special viewing windows. A 30-foot open-bowed fiberglass boat with a canvas cover moves you from adventure to adventure.
